I was asked if it is safe to consume LEMON essential oil in water over extended periods of time.
I have been drinking lemon essential oil in my water - minimum 15-20 drops/day – for almost 12 years. It has not damaged the enamel on my teeth or the bondings and porcelain crowns. According to Dr. David Stewart, who wrote the book, The Chemistry of Essential Oils Made Simple, the molecules of lemon essential oil are slightly different from the molecules of lemon juice. The essential oil is cold-pressed from the rind of the fruit. This slight difference may be a huge factor in how it affects the teeth and the entire body.
Lemon essential oil leaves the body in a more alkaline state as it registers +9.9 on the “food ash residual scale”.
NOTE: DO NOT CONSUME ANY ESSENTIAL OIL UNLESS IT IS STATED ON THE LABEL THAT IT IS SAFE FOR INTERNAL CONSUMPTION. I use ONLY Young Living's therapeutic-grade essential oil, and everything that I say is referring to their use rather than to other brands.
